Dear participants of the BLAM Symposium,
next week it will start, from our side almost everything is prepared.
Meeting points:
On Wednesday we and the conference office can be found in the Botanical Garden Schubertstraße 59 from 17.00 until about 21.00, who still has time and desire,
can come there for a glass of wine or a beer.
Thursday we will start at 9.00 a.m. at the Museum of Natural History, Kalchberggasse, in the city center, where the conference office will be located.
Corona activities:
There are currently no corona restrictions in Austria. However, since the numbers are increasing quite a bit, we ask that you at least bring a face mask to the field trips and wear it during the bus rides.
Public transport:
In the city you can get around well by streetcar, line 1 (direction Mariatrost) goes from the train station through to the Botanical Garden, and also back to the city. Buses to the university take line 63 from the train station, get off at Universität, but from there it is another 800 m walk to the Botanical Garden.
An hour ticket costs 2.50 €, vending machines are available in the streetcars and buses. If you arrive on Wednesday, it might pay off to buy a 24 h ticket for 5.60 €, which you can still use the next day. 3-day tickets are unfortunately not available, the weekly ticket at 16.30 € does not pay off. You can also walk everything, but then you have to plan 30-40 min from the city to the Botanical Garden (only required for mixer on Wednesday, symposium dinner, final mixer on Saturday, meeting points for excursions).
Return trip:
On the day of the post-excursion we want to be at the train station in Graz at 16.00 at the latest, but there is already the possibility to get off in around 14.00 Judenburg or 14.30 in St. Michael.
It has now rained again nicely, the mosses and lichens are in the best mood and are looking forward to the excursions.
